05/05/2024 - Riverside Scramble Tournament

  • Sign up deadline Thursday April 25, 2023 by 12:00pm (noon) 
  • Entry Fee: 
    • $25 per player - if paid before April 25 at 12:00pm (noon)
    • $35 per player - players may sign up between April 25 at 12:01pm to April 27 at 12:00pm (noon), if any spots remain available.  
  • Sign up in the North Pro Shop either in person or over the phone. Payment is required to be added to the list. Payments accepted are cash, check, credit cards.
  • 9:00am Shotgun Start
  • SIGN UP INDIVIDUALLY
  • Teams will be selected by the Tournament Committee to create fair and equal teams
  • Gross scoring - no handicaps
  • One Division - Men and Women will play on mixed teams and in one field
  • Players must hold a Riverside (North or South) Golf Course Membership
  • Only having a Ghin membership at Riverside does not qualify  
  • Riverside will block the morning of May 5 on the North Course, if you play in this event, you will not need to book a tee time.  Hole assignments will be chosen at random.
  • Format:
    • Scramble
      • All team members hit and pick the preferred ball to use for the next shot.  Players have “Ball In Hand” and may place the ball within one club length from the chosen ball.  Players may not change surfaces (ball in rough must stay in rough, ball in bunker must stay in bunker, etc).
  • Tees:
    • Men Tees: 
      • Players ages 54 and under will play White Tees.
      • Players 55 and up will have the option to play either the White Tees or Blue Tees.  Players' course handicap will reflect which tee they play, according to the USGA.  
      • Players must select which tee they will be playing at the time of signing up for the Tournament or Sweeps and can not be changed once the deadline has passed. 
    • Women’s Tees:
      • Players ages 54 and under will play Green Tees.
      • Players 55 and up will have the option to play either the Green Tees or Gold Tees.  Players' course handicap will reflect which tee they play, according to the USGA.  
      • Players must select which tee they will be playing at the time of signing up for the Tournament or Sweeps and can not be changed once the deadline has passed. 
  • Payouts - Payouts based on number of entries, payouts in credit book money, all entry fees collected will be paid out.
  • No additional sweeps will be offered
  • Must be a Riverside GC Member with an active Riverside Ghin Handicap
  • Players Ghin Handicap must have an Index Number to play.  NH will not be acceptable to play in the event

 

Rules for the Tournament 

  • LIVE SCORING IS MANDATORY to be used throughout the tournament by one person on the team.  
    • IF A TEAM DOES NOT USE THE LIVE SCORING - EACH PLAYER ON THE TEAM WILL BE PENALIZED 2 STROKES IF THEY CHOOSE NOT TO USE THE LIVE SCORING. The 2 Strokes will be added to the 18th hole score of each player.   
    • The two stroke penalty will not be added to your score for Ghin posting, just for scoring of the tournament. 
    • Download the Golf Genius app
  • The live scoring GGID Number will be provided the day of the tournament
  • SCORE CARDS will be the official score for the team.  Please sign your scorecard, once its turned in it will be official and no changes will be allowed.  Keep only GROSS scores on your scorecard.  Cards must be turned immediately after your round.
  • FORMAT: 
  • Scramble - All team members hit and select the preferred ball for the next shot, repeat until the ball is hole’d out. Team has “Ball In Hand” and may place the ball within one club length before hitting. 
  • Can not change surfaces (ball in rough must stay in rough, ball in the bunker must stay in the bunker, etc).
  • Each player must use at least one drive throughout the round.  The driver may be used on any hole within the round. 
  • If 3 players arrive from the group to play, here are the options

? We try finding someone to play within the time frame before the tournament starts. ? If unable to find a 4th player, we can either offer a refund to the players in the group or they can play as a threesome. 

  • If playing as a threesome, here is how the 4th shot can be taken; 
  • Only a lower seeded player may take the extra shot. Example- A Player is a no show, the B, C, D players rotate the shot. B player is a no show, the C and D rotate the shot. C player is a no show, only the D player may take the extra shot. D player is a no show, no extra shot for that team. 
  • ? If 1 or 2 players arrive from the group to play, here are the options.

    • Players must select which tee they will be playing at the time of signing up for the Tournament or Sweeps and can not be changed once the deadline has passed. 
  • Pine needles at base of trees – NOT GUR (located in rule book under Definitions - Ground Under Repair. Grass clipping, leaves any other material left on the course that are not intended to be removed are not ground under repair unless marked GUR) 
  • Tree Roots - No relief. Players may take an Unplayable Ball under Rule 19. You can play and unplayable ball anywhere except o a Penalty Area 
  • Nesting Boxes – Free Relief - Nearest point of complete relief - one club length from the reference point. Relief must not be nearer the hole and in the general area. 
  • No Play Zones (Environmental Sensitive Areas) – 

? Mandatory drop for environmental areas with a 1 stroke penalty 

? Entry into and/or playing from environmental reason - breach of rule 2 stroke penalty

  • 18th Hole – Flower bed behind green is part of the obstruction 

? Free Relief - Nearest point of complete relief - one club length from the reference point. Relief must not be nearer the hole and in the general area. 

  • ? Ground Under Repair (GUR) marked with white paint 

? "Ground under repair" is any part of the course so marked by order of the Committee or so declared by its authorized representative. 

  • If in doubt, play 2 balls under rule 20.1c, inform other competitors which ball you want count 
  • All USGA, State and Local Rules apply to this tournament  
  • USGA tiebreaker will be used if teams are tied for any of the top places
