Member Tournament - Ryder Cup

6/29-30/2024 - 2 Day Ryder Cup Tournament 

  • Sign up deadline Monday June 17, 2024 by 1200pm  
  • Entry Fee: 
    • $100/Team ($50 per player) - if paid before June 17 at 12:00pm.  Must sign up and pay as a team.  
    • $150/Team ($75 per player) - players may sign up between June 17 at 12:01pm to June 19 at 12:00pm, if any spots remain available.  
  • Sign up in the North Pro Shop either in person or over the phone. Must sign up and pay as a team.  Payment is required to be added to the list. Payments accepted are cash, check and  credit cards.
  • Refunds will be issued up to 48 hours from the event.  After that no refunds will be issued.
  • Tee times - starting at 6:00am
  • 2 Divisions - Men’s Division and Women’s Division
  • Create your own 2 person team
    • Combined team handicap index must be 15 or higher.
  • Players must hold a Riverside Golf Course Membership. 
  • Only having a Ghin membership at Riverside does not qualify.  
  • Singles may sign up and we will try to add or form teams, we can not guarantee you will be paired in a team.  
  • Handicaps based on formats - see below
  • The handicaps revisions on Friday June 28, 2024 will be used for the tournament.
  • Tees
    • White Tees - Men
    • Green Tees - Women
  • Riverside will block the morning for the tournament on June 29-30.  If you play in this event, you will not need to book a tee time.  Day 1 (June 29) tee times starting at 6:00am and will be selected at random.  Day 2 (June 30) will be tee times starting at 6:00am based on the results from Day 1, teams who are in the lead will tee off last.  Each division will play on the same date and tee times for both divisions will be integrated within each other but will only be competing against the division they are in.  
  • FORMAT - 4 Formats: 
    • 9 Hole Scramble - (6/29/2023 - 1st Nine) Scramble – 35% handicap A player, 15% handicap , B player
    • 9 Hole Pinehurst - (6/29/2023 - 2nd Nine) Pinehurst (Chapman Scotch) – 60% handicap A player, 40% handicap B player 
      • Pinehurst Format - both players tee off, then they switch balls. Player A plays Player B's drive, and vice-versa. Each player hits the second shot. They then select the best of the second shots, and from that point until the ball is holed they play only one ball in an alternate shot format.
    • 9 Hole Best 1 of 2 - (6/30/2023 - 3rd Nine) Better Ball – 90% handicap 
    • 9 Hole True Alternate Shot - (6/30/2023 - 4th Nine) True Alternate Shot – 50% team handicap 
  • Payouts - Payouts based on number of entries, payouts in credit book money, all entry fees collected will be paid out in the division they are paid into..
  • Payouts will be for each format, overall Day 1, overall Day 2, Overall combining both days.    
  • No additional sweeps will be offered 
  • Players Ghin Handicap must have an Index Number to play.  NH will not be acceptable to play in the event.
  • Players scores will be posted by the golf course.  




Rules for the Tournament 

  • LIVE SCORING IS MANDATORY to be used throughout the tournament by one person on the team.  
    • IF A TEAM DOES NOT USE THE LIVE SCORING - EACH PLAYER ON THE TEAM WILL BE PENALIZED 2 STROKES IF THEY CHOOSE NOT TO USE THE LIVE SCORING. The 2 Strokes will be added to the 18th hole score of each player.   
    • The two stroke penalty will not be added to your score for Ghin posting, just for scoring of the tournament. 
    • Download the Golf Genius app
  • The live scoring GGID Number will be provided the day of the tournament
  • SCORE CARDS will be the official score for the team.  Please sign your scorecard, once its turned in it will be official and no changes will be allowed.  Keep only GROSS scores on your scorecard.  Cards must be turned immediately after your round.

      • True Alternate Shot - on the 10th hole whoever tees off, their partner hits the second shot and continues to alternate until they ball is holed.  Whoever putts the ball in the cup, their partner is to tee off the next hole.  Players can not choose who tees off from each hole except the 10th hole which is the starting hole for this format. 
      • You can not change balls on a hole, you must start and finish with the same ball.  
  • If a player picks up and records an X on a hole where the score is needed, the team will be disqualified from the tournament. 
  • If only 1 player arrives from the team to play and no other players are available to fill in, unfortunately that team will be unable to compete in the tournament. 
  • 1 club length in own fairway
  • Rake and place in all bunkers
  • Tees: 
    • Men - White Tees 
    • Women - Green Tees
  • Pine needles at base of trees – NOT GUR (located in rule book under Definitions - Ground Under Repair. Grass clipping, leaves any other material left on the course that are not intended to be removed are not ground under repair unless marked GUR) 
  • Tree Roots - No relief. Players may take an Unplayable Ball under Rule 19. You can play and unplayable ball anywhere except o a Penalty Area 
  • Nesting Boxes – Free Relief - Nearest point of complete relief - one club length from the reference point. Relief must not be nearer the hole and in the general area. 
  • No Play Zones (Environmental Sensitive Areas) – 

? Mandatory drop for environmental areas with a 1 stroke penalty 

? Entry into and/or playing from environmental reason - breach of rule 2 stroke penalty

  • 18th Hole – Flower bed behind green is part of the obstruction 

? Free Relief - Nearest point of complete relief - one club length from the reference point. Relief must not be nearer the hole and in the general area. 

  • ? Ground Under Repair (GUR) marked with white paint 

? "Ground under repair" is any part of the course so marked by order of the Committee or so declared by its authorized representative. 

  • If in doubt, play 2 balls under rule 20.1c, inform other competitors which ball you want count 
  • All USGA, State and Local Rules apply to this tournament  
  • USGA tiebreaker will be used if teams are tied for any of the top places
